Package Deal

(Side note, if anyone is interested in the entire Jeep + Trailer matching package as a fully functional turn-key off grid rig, contact me and we’ll talk about discounting for purchasing both. Jeep has 42,000 miles and is a 2015 Rubicon Hard Rock with solar, RTT fridge, partner stove, water tank, comms, and so much more.)

——————————————————————————————————————

The trailer was purchased new in March of 2017 from Hiker Trailer, Indiana factory. This was the first special order black on black diamond trailer that Hiker produced. It’s also the first with the rear swing out tire carrier. It has since been one of their more popular combinations. They were initially cautious about building a black squaredrop due to heat, but as long as the roof was kept white for reflection, the sides had minimal impact on overall temperature.

Hiker base extreme off road with added factory options including:

  • 1,500lbs dry from factory. With all added equipment and a full water tank, I estimate about 22-2,300lbs. I have not officially weighed it for expedition loadout.

  • Black diamond plating on ALL sides, including back.

  • 2 x3 Black steel off road frame

  • 33” tires - owner upgraded to 33” Nitto Trail Grapplers with Jeep Rubicon Hard Rock black and silver wheels.

  • Front window

  • Two side sliding windows with screens

  • Two side entry doors with windows

  • Two screen doors

  • Overhead three speed Fantastic fan / vent with reverse

  • LED trim light around Fantastic fan

  • Interior under floor storage

  • Roof Cross Bars (2) - have been Line-x coated by owner.

  • Lock N Roll articulating hitch, safety chains

  • 21 gallon on board, skid plate covered, water tank with locking fill port

  • Rear spare tire swing arm with matching 33” Nitto Trail Grappler tire on matching Jeep Rubicon Hard Rock black rim

  • 3500lb axle

  • Long soft Ride Leaf Springs w/ Shocks - suspension was upgraded by Hiker Trailer to add two additional leaf springs to each side for additional weight carrying capacity. This has negated some of the “soft ride” aspect as does anything when you add more weight capacity.

  • Climate Right 5000 Heating and Cooling unit with wireless remote and wired thermostat - Hiker is prepped for heat and AC pass through (requires shore power or a generator to run this unit). NOTE: This unit was used once and store inside after. For what I use it for, I did not see the need to lug around the Climate Right for Heat / AC. I installed a propane furnace for winter camping but either can be used. See also the Heating and Cooling section below.

  • Electric trailer brakes with 7 pin connector

  • Surface Mount LED Trailer lights

  • Two rear shackle mounts with red shackles

  • 16” Galley depth with two shelves

  • Two front jacks - replaced 6/1/19 both brand new

  • Propane mount - has been Line-x coated by owner.

  • 11lb propane tank

  • 2 inch rear, frame-mounted hitch

  • Standard front overhead bins, rear galley wall bins

  • The cabin is walled off completely from the galley to minimize insect entry. There is a small, locking pass through to the galley.

Additional equipment added by owner:

The goal of this build was off-the-grid, long term sustainability.

There is also this video from two years ago. Note, that many of the upgrades were not added at this time. Also, yes, I know the sound on the video is terrible. I’ve heard it from 20,000 people commenting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkDzneE8ahc
